Looking for a Point-of-Sale System (POS)?

July 23, 2019 by OSYB Staff

An important component for your sales transactions is finding a cost efficient point-of-sales system (POS) that provides you with all that you need and some of the extras for convenience without breaking the bank. Intuit QuickBooks shares some features that you should consider when making your choice:

  • cost – you should know there are monthly fees and per transaction fees that need to be considered and don’t also forget to add in the cost of any additional hardware/labor that goes into intergrating the POS system with your own.
  • features – there are a lot of features that come with POS systems, though the bells and whistles are attractive, be mindful in considering what features would make the most sense for your business. To help you figure out what features you really need, write out how a typical transaction occurs from start to finish and then determine which features will work and/or enhance the process.
  • ease of use – this is an important component, take advantage of free trials and test out as many systems as you can on the platforms that you will be using.
  • installation and support – find out if there is any installation required or, if it is cloud-based. Don’t take the word of the sales team, take the time to talk to their service team and ask questions. If you run into a problem you want quick efficient fixes.

Before you start looking for a POS system assess your needs, know your current requirements but also think ahead of growth potential and needs.
