Employee Extras that Count

Accounting Today and Best Companies Groups have been raking the best firms to work for over the last ten years. This year’s survey showed 11 employee perks that the top firms are at an advantage in providing. Here in no particular order:
- Flexible work hours and shortened work weeks
- Formalized succession planning practices or programs
- Having telecommuting options
- Inviting staff members families to firm events
- Limiting firm meetings and staff-only events to works hours
- Matching employee contributions to retirement savings plans
- Paid time off for community service or volunteer work
- Personal development or stress management courses, seminars or workshops
- Providing fitness or wellness programs
- Sharing information about how the firm is doing financially
- Tuition reimbursement or assistance for additional degrees or credentials
Of course, remember that though these perks are wonderful, the basics of good compensation, work -life balance and room for career growth are still very important.
