Are Your Client Relationships Optimal?

August 22, 2019 by OSYB Staff

Brianna Johnson shared on Convergence Coaching that developing deeper client and business relationships, and creating a strong network is vital for success. Here are some of the benefits:

  • provides a tangible contribution to increase revenue
  • leads to opportunities to be a industry leader
  • enables you to refer clients to other businesses that your company may not offer
  • builds mutual referral sources
  • contributes to a fulfilling career with stronger business and personal connections

One common concern is keeping business and personal matters separate. Brianna’s believes that ” When we build rapport and have relatedness with one another, it increases feelings of familiarity, comfortability and likeability. People want to buy from people they like and can relate to, and people want to refer those they like to others they know. This means that you have to be focused on developing relationships with your prospects, if you want them to make the decision to become clients. It also means you must continue building trust and deepening your relationships if you want your client relationships to sustain”.

Here are some tips on how to start growing rapport:

  • Find small talk topics that are relevant to the timing of your meeting such as weekend, summer or holiday plans.
  • Start with open-ended questions.
  • Be responsive and share your own experiences.
  • Retain what you learn in the conversations, remember and keep track of important personal nuggets. so that when you meet again you can follow-up on the conversation.
  • Integrate what you have learned about the client to the way you respond, share, and work with them.

Strong and good rapport with clients and colleagues adds value to your relationships.
