Use Accounting Apps Wisely and Safely

For those interested in bringing your personal or business financial management into the digital world, accounting applications are in abundance.  Here is a modicum sampling of what financial applications can do:

• bookkeeping for personal or business use
• monitoring your money usage and graphing it
• tracking credit card usage
• documenting receipts
• depositing checks

A lot of these application can be very helpful, and easy to use for managing and keeping your financial picture up-to-date but here are some things to consider:

• If your application can link to your bank account, make sure that the application is secure and can be locked if you lose your device.
• Make sure the security on your mobile devices is updated and secure.  Mobile devices are easier to break into than a computer.
• Find the application that gives you the ability to customize the categories to meet your personal needs.
• Look for the most user friendly application.
