What’s Happening in the Small Business World?

June 14, 2018 by OSYB Staff

There are some indications that the small business world is in a whirl of activity.  So what is really going on?  Intuit QuickBooks shares some interesting insights:

  1.  Amazon it seems is no longer seen as the antagonist but rather as an ally, at least for the “(68%) of small-business owners who sell online and say Amazon has positively impacted their sales.”
  2.  Small businesses are changing their viewing lens and are seeing Amazon and other e-commerce sites as a means for them to evolve and expand beyond physical boundaries.
  3.  Though larger big retailers are struggling and phasing out, small business retailers are re-creating themselves by offering classes, and adding unique experiences and services that round off their original goal.
  4. Small businesses are automating more therefore hiring less.  Yet, they are finding creative ways to attract great staff.
  5. Wages for small business staff is growing and mainly because small business owners are optimistic and want to hire the optimum team members.
  6. However, amidst all the optimism there are some concerns about the trade dispute with China.

Owning a small business is a journey and there will be many bumps, glides and soars.   When you own your own business, you are the captain of your destiny and you will fare well, if you stay on top of things.
