Jump on the 2019 Back to School Bus Early

September 27, 2018 by OSYB Staff

If you missed the 2018 back to school business opportunities, you need to start planning now for 2019.   Intuit QuickBooks shares, “The National Retail Federation estimates that the total spending for K-12 schools and college combined was $82.8 billion in 2018, presenting a big opportunity for businesses in all industries to capitalize on the school year excitement with clever promotions.”

So start planning now and here are some tips:

  • If your business doesn’t have an obvious connection to the back to school season, brainstorm on how you are indirectly tied in to the back to school flurry.  For example, if you sell recyclable water bottles, talk about how parents can save money and help the environment by using recycable water bottles.
  • Offer a special to parents and teachers like a discount and advertise in advance so you become part of the shopping frenzy.
  • Be connected to your community and offer ways that you can participate and contribute.
  • Grow relationships with influence marketers and get out to meet them, whether they are bloggers or local parent groups and organizations.  Influence marketers can get your business out there with the audience that needs to know about you.
  • Give a small school related gift with purchases leading up to the back to school season, perhaps a pencil with your logo on it or offer a raffle ticket for a larger prize like a laptop.
  • Consider linking up with a local school or group and organize a school supplies drive.   Support a school related cause and encourage your clients to pitch in.

Be part of the back to school economy and participate in a good cause.  Plan now.
