Do You Wake Up Excited to Run Your Business Everyday?

Following up our last nutrition post, this topic is not necessarily one that you find often in hardcore business blogs. But it honestly is something that small business owners should think about more often; and at least every once in a while, dig deeper into, to ensure they are on the right path.

When you chose to become a business owner, what were your reasons? Was it because you were tired of working for someone else and making them rich, or at least making them way more money than you were making? Was it a life event, maybe a lay-off, that caused you to take that leap? Or was it simply because it was a dream that you really wanted to fulfill?

Sometimes the reasons why you started do not matter, it’s the day to day question that you need to ask yourself, “why?”. Owning a business, no matter how small or large, can be super stressful and nerve racking. If you do not know why you are doing it on a daily basis, it becomes mundane and robotic. The stress can overwhelm you and create many problems that directly and indirectly affect your business and your life.

Taking time each day to stop and think about what you really want from your business and your life can help reduce stress and increase your motivation. If you are not excited to start your day every morning, maybe your goals, your dreams, etc. have gotten lost in the busyness of business. Now I am not saying that you must slow down, relax, take it easy, not work so hard. But I AM saying that if you are not excited about it you are burning yourself out for nothing.

Every person has a purpose, has a passion that drives them. Are you working on the path of that passion and purpose in your life? Do you even know what it is anymore? Or have you allowed it to get lost in the shuffle and the to-do lists? And now you are just on auto-pilot going through the motions, but not with any drive? Possibly you are not passionate about what you are doing, you are not really living your passion or your dreams. That would suck the excitement out of your life very quickly.

To be true to yourself and your purpose, you have to explore what your purpose really is. Happiness is always a choice. No business, no person, no material thing can make you happy. It is something that you have to choose. Sometimes have to choose many times in a day, because life and stress get us down and try to steal our happiness. Or we have gotten into the habit of relying on others to make us happy, that will always lead to failure. We are all human, we cannot make others happy on a constant basis because it is not what we were intended to do. Somewhere along the line, we will disappoint or fail the people we love the most. Each and every person has to choose their own state of happiness, it is not really a feeling as much as it is a mindset.

Seeking out your true purpose can help you grow your business to levels you would have never thought possible. When you are in tune with your passions and purpose, your life is aligned and you are less stressed, even if you are not less busy. Happiness and working with a purpose and passion is good for the soul, good for the mind as well as the body. When you are aligned and in tune the universe if the limit of what you can do in your business. Take a few moments each day to think about what your passions and purpose are and how you can realign them with your business.
