Improve corporate culture

In the workplace, a positive and engaging corporate culture improves staff retention and enhances productivity.  “According to Gallup News polls, employee engagement has been flat since 2000, and only 32 percent of U.S. workers were considered engaged in their jobs in 2015.”

Accounting Today shares some actions an accounting group took to firm up their company culture:

  1. Evaluating staff from a strength-based viewpoint versus identifying areas where an employee needs improvement.  Providing 1:1 mentoring to further fortify their areas of expertise.
  2. Cultivating collegial relationships by holding out-of-the-office team building experiences like scavenger hunts.  All staff including new hires have a buddy assisting them with social intergration, coaching and encouragement, and sharing training opportunities.
  3. Making staff dreams come true by having a “bucket list” for staff and randomly picking out an employee’s wish and making it happen.

Companies have varied ways of creating a corporate climate that keeps their staff engaged.  A happy and committed workforce is a company asset and clients’ can benefit from the overflow of goodwill.
